Camshaft Question
I currently have a CRANE Camshaft with my Vortec heads. I was looking at the LT4 Hotcam. The numbers look pretty good. Has anyone here tried this set-up before? (Vortec heads & HotCam) I am going to be purchasing the computer upgrade kit from RBob's company. I was looking to get a little more power from my set up. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
My current cam specs are 204/214 & .429/.452

Re: Camshaft Question
Is it because I have a Cadillac? I did some research and decided not to get the HotCam. Thanks

Re: Camshaft Question
I don't know if you got anything yet, but it depends on what you're looking for the car to do. The cam you have I would call a stock replacement/slight upgrade. The hotcam is still a small street cam with 218 intake duration, but would likely give you a decent bit more power. For something street/strip, I'd tend toward something upper 220's intake duration or even low 230's. The more you go, the more power it will make, but the less streetable it will be and more converter/gear/rpm it will want.

Re: Camshaft Question
Thank you for the reply. I decided not to get the cam, but now I am back to being undecided. My engines redlines at around 5500, so anything over 230 intake wouldnt be that good. Plus I want to maintain my vacuum for my brakes. What would be an ideal cam for a 5500lb car while maintaining streetability. Keep in mind that I plan on purchasing the EBL, so I am ready to tune.
