ZZ4 heads. Which gaskets and other questions.
I've been pondering on just saying the hell with doing any work to my "187"s and just slapping in my ZZ4's to get a feel for them but I have a list of questions for those in the know.
1. Will I lose some bottom end "streetable" torque by switching these heads. They have been 3 angled, bowl blended, valves backcut, milled down quite abit and the combustion chambers are polished smooth.
2. What is a good head gasket to use? from what the machinist told me he milled them down .030 but I know they have been milled a touch before I got them. I want to get a good quench area and to maintain good compression. If I could get between 9.8 to 1 to 10.5 to 1 and be able to still run premium I'll be happy.
3. There obviously will be alittle overhang from the heads as they are built for a 4 inch bore. will this cause a decrease in effiency (spl?) Will this cause any problems?
4. how much of the 2 middle intake holes will I have to grind away to be able to bolt the intake down? will this cause any leaks?
I have most of the parts I need to do this but I'm just missing head gaskets to get this done. Some help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: ZZ4 heads. Which gaskets and other questions.
I was just on Pace Chev and Gilbert Chev web site re: vortec heads. they strongly recommend not to try to adapt a traditional SB intake to head as they will leak. I believe Fast355 used a 2 barrel vortec manifold. He has photos and all on the thread. I never knew a vortec 2 barrel existed. Not sure if pricey. GM Vortec manifold is over $300

ZZ4's aren't a vortec style. They have the standard 56-87 intake bolt pattern.

One more question. Am I going to need guide plates? I will be using my stock push rods and from what i understand these heads originally came with guideplates.
