i am getting y car back from the tranny shop on monday. and i had this intake laying around. i have a tbi motor and want to keep it that way i have limited cash so would it be a good idea to put this intake on for more power and mpg? i know i would need an adapter plate. i was looking at the transgo adapter. any input or info would be greatly apreatiated!

Large single plane isnt the best option if your still near stock. Its probably an ok intake, but a dual plane with small runners would be better, something like an edel performer would do if you want to use a carb intake and adaptor.

Re: good idea to put this intake on?

Its only a pair of gaskets and a few hours of work. I think you would like the single plane. I know I liked mine. Dewey316 ran one on a 305 with stock swirl ports and it ran out very well. A single plane intake on a TBI does not lose nearly as much low-end torque as a carb does. The engine will probably want a little more timing and more fuel pressure to run properly.

You'll also likely need to do some tuning due to the different AE requirements as well. That intake will likely want a lot of AE. Not quite as bad as a fully unheated intake, but it will need more than stock. Its not critical like it is with a manual, but if the AE is off, the engine may spit, pop, and fart from a standing high throttle start.

One more thing to consider when going with this intake is the TV cable bracket and correct adjustment of the same. Otherwise your 700R4 will sing a swan song in a short order. You may quickly discover that brackets alone may cost more than dual plane intake unless you can fab brackets that maintain correct throttle arm/cable end support geometry.
