Is there such thing as a cam you don't need to tune for?
What I mean is: Is there a cam I could install that I would not have to Tune right then and there just to get your car to run and drive? A cam I could put in saturday and drive to work monday without learning to tune? And then tune it gradually as time passes and I learn/save for an EBL?
I have seen posts saying things like x cam is great but you will never get out of the driveway unless you tune etc. and it scares the heck out of me because i want to do exhaust, heads, intake and cam all at once and I am afraid I will screw up the cam trying to break it in since I can't tune. And I really don't want to turn a good running car into a yard decoration because I modded it and now it won't work... or worse yet have it leave me stranded somewere.
What to do?

The only cam I can think of that would still get you down the street would be the Vortec/L99 cam. It's VERY mild but it should be drivable on the stock tune. BUT... even a stock car can benefit with a tune.

Add an S10 L35 96+ 4.3 v6 converter 24202310 and new valve springs while you're at it for some more punch.

So truth be told... if I want to do a cam, intake, larger tbi, different heads, headers and full exhaust then there is no way around it I will need to learn how to tune?
Can I mail order a tune just to get the car running good enough to break in the new cam and even to drive back and forth to work for a while?
After that if I got the EBL how long would it take the average noobie to get it fully tuned?

Mail ordering a tune is much easier if you're copying someone else's exact combination of parts. Simply adding better heads caused me issues with my TBI.
