Might be buying a TBI----Question needed
Might be buying a TBI----Question needed
Hey bros,
I came across a 92 Canary Yellow Firebird 92K miles, Auto, gold honey comb wheels.t-tops,V8 nice conditon one owner left ALL original. From an estate sale for $1000, only thing it needs is the fuel pump. The owner is getting me an estimate since I am across the state, I am in West Palm Beach, they are in Naples. It needs to be installed before I can take it home or it wont run.
He is taking it to a mechanic he knows for an estimate comes monday, how much do you guys think it should cost for a fuel pump and labor? I think if it is over a couple hundred dollars I will offer him $800 since I have to pay for the pump. What is your estimate??

I think it will run about 300 if they do it right and drop the tank and replace it that way. If they go the easy route and cut thru the top it will be cheaper. Hopefully they will do it the right way!!

That sound fair, thanks for the reply. I think the car would be a good deal for $800 then if a repair is going to cost about 300. I will post pics if I buy it.

If the car is all you say, it's well worth $1000 plus $300.

I agree. I would just get a trailer and take her home and do the repair myself, that way you would get it for 1000$ plus the 100$ it costs for a pump and you save 200$. Lol im pretty cheap.
Make sure they dont put the crappy TBI pump back in if your planning on modding it in the future. A walbro 190 ran me 80$ and it will more than handle what im doing to my car.
I got quoted from a shop it takes 3.7 hours to do that repair last summer. So it should be somewhere near 4 hours at the labor rate plus parts. But that car is well worth it.

$1,000 + cost of repair is a great deal.
