Is It time For a Fuel Pump?
My 91 305 TBI Formula is stalling and Idleing like it is starving for fuel. Today I hooked up a Fuel Pressure tester I got 3-5 PSI If I am correct it should be 9-13 right. Is it time for a new fuel pump.
Thanks in advance,
Dan

After running into the same problem i would say.... Your fuel pump is either going out or the siphon screen is clogged beyond belief. After pulling my pump, i realized how much dirt and grime was in the pump filter ( looked like solid mud
). Get the pump changed and you should have your bird on the road again. - Russ

Re: Is It time For a Fuel Pump?
That's how my TBI pump failed. Car wouldn't run for more than 10 or 15 seconds and when it did it ran like dog poo. If I was lucky I could drive 20 feet to move it out of the driveway before it stalled and wouldn't want to restart. Gauge read 3-5 PSI. It sounded pretty sad when it primed too.
I suppose there is a chance you're lucky and the fuel filter is clogged. If you've never changed it it's probably time anyway. Only 13 bucks or so.
PS - When I changed my pump the inside of my gas tank was clean as a whistle and there was hardly anything on the filter screen. It definitely looked pretty old and I'm pretty sure it was original (180,000 on chassis), but I don't understand how you guys are getting all this crap in your tank that does things like ruin your fuel pump/system if you run out of gas and suck it up etc....

Its not my fuel filter already changed that Plus I check the fuel psi behind the fuel filter closer to the tank so filter was not a factor yeah my fuel pressure was pretty pathetic. What all should be changer when the pump is changed other then the filter, strainer and of course the pump. A little insight would be nice
