Once every 2 years if about right.
Sure they can last a lot longer, especially OEM’s.
But when they go they can take out the module.

2 years?! I've seen hundreds that continue to run after 20+ years. The OEM ones are very solid when run as stock (not jamming an MSD 6 through them for example).
If you're talking pick-up coil... I replace them at the earliest sign of corrosion or anything. Hate being stranded for the sake of a $10 part that is such a PITA to replace (well, on the side of the road).

2 years is unnecessary. There are tons of 20+ year old TBI motors out there running on the same one that they came with from the factory.

I have the stocker still on mine and its doing fine... I am all for preventive maintenance but I also believe on some things if it aint broke don't fix it. I just couldn't justify spending money on something that could last years down the road before I had to replace it. Just my

I think this thread must have cursed me or something....
But I'm big enough to admit this...
I've had my truck on the road for about 300 miles now. Was way out in the countryside (of course!) with the wife going to look at a car for her. Driving along casually and the engine just drops dead.
Well... long story short.... it was.... the coil.
Now! Let me clarify - it was a rather old MSD blaster II. If I'd kept the old OEM one in there it probably would have kept going... but I had that one, so I tossed it on.
I still wouldn't just replace it as a maintenance item, but, along with an ignition module, and tools to swap it, I'm leaving an OEM coil in my emergency kit!

But I'm big enough to admit this...

thats bad mani put the blaster II on mine 6 years ago its still good, but 6 years has only been 30,000 miles
