I took a ride to wawa about 2 miles away yesterday. Car is not PERFECTLY timed but it's good enough so I can go sideways still with automatic trans. Every once in awhile the injectors will just stop working and the car shuts off. Sometimes it will die in the middle of driving or when I am parked switching to drive or reverse. When I try to turn the car back on the injectors won't do anything untill I spray 2+2 to start it and usually injectors will come back on when I keep messing with it.

Next time it happens check the fuel pump pressure. It may also be that the ignition module is dying.

because the ign. module controls spark and inj pulse!!!!!
Well like I said car isn't timed fully cause I dont know how to use the timing light I have. The reason my car wouldn't start was the ignition module and I got a used one off another camaro I had. It was working half the time so I am guessing this might be bad to. Can the alternator have anything to do with it? The tach will jump now every once in awhile like it's shorting out or something. When the car dies I have to use 2+2 to start it and sometimes it will start using the injectors again and running by itself. Today I let my car idle and forgot about it and I came out 10 minutes later and it was off.

if there's an alternator-based short, then you should be able to see an occasional spark in the engine bay when the car is idling (for however long it will idle.) ran into the same problem with my dad's old Sable.

Tach skipping/jumping is almost a dead giveaway that its an ignition control module related failure. Could also be a pickup coil or ignition coil...Originally Posted by robster66

I got a new alternator and it is still reading around 11 volts. Ignition Coil was replaced recently. I have not messed with the ignition module
