Fuel or timing?
Fuel or timing?
I have a 1989 camaro with a 350 swapped in place of the 305 by the previous owner, my issue is this the car starts and idles fine, when you give it throttle it bogs and wants to die unless you feather the throttle, i pulled the air cleaner to check and see what its doing, at first i thought i had a fueling issue, but it is "backfiring" through the throttle body, so im thinking the timing is an issue. However the motot doesnt appear to have a timing tab pointer on it, is that something these were built without? is there a method for reading the timing I am unaware of?. Oh I havent checked the injector part #'s but overall it appears a good job was done on the swap with the proper 746 computer installed and everything.

Re: Fuel or timing?
It's a fuel delivery problem.
I tried to start my car once (to get gas) and it was extremely low already, and I poured a little gas into the TBI unit to prime it and though it go the engine running, it was running horribly, you had to feather the gas to get it to stay running, but if you stayed on the throttle it would start to die.
Check to make sure the injectors are spraying in a proper "cone" fashion.

Re: Fuel or timing?
I Just had an issue with mine to where it idle fine, and ran great untill it reached norm temps, then it would backfire like mad through the tbi whenever you gave it gas, untill it would die,
i changed the coil and that fixed it, the other coil was going bad, thats a cheap fix (18$ at napa ) id say start there, with ignition.
