Whats the deal?

Why wont my idle afr change (get richer) than 14.7 when I change the idle fuel table? This is a $OD definition file. I change the values up or down in the "main fuel table, near idle %vol Eff" and it will just go to 14.7 or very close. I want to run a little richer idle. Is this because of closed loop idle? Can I disable that, or should I. I think I might benefit from a richer idle than 14.7 as far as getting the idle to smooth out. All thats done to this motor is a compu-cam camshaft, and the idle is really choppy? Is it possible to post my bin file for all to see. How do you ad a bin attachment to your post so maybe I can post my bin and someone can help me and get a better idea of what i need to do? thanks in advance.

Re: Whats the deal?

in closed loop the computer is set to run at the commanded afr.

you changing the VE cell, will make a difference in open loop, but when it enters closed loop, the computer will add or subtract to make it the 14.7 that is commanded.

Re: Whats the deal?

Yeah, when i fire it up its in open loop, and i see the changes i made on the wb. Then it enters closed loop and runs 14.6 or so. All i have is a commanded afr for wot with the cats $od. Can i completly disable closed loop? Or is that a stupid thing to do, if it even can be done. In drive at a stop light im get a terribley bad misfire, and it shakes the truck but it doesnt do it when cold. Im thinking lean misfire.

Re: Whats the deal?

You can post your bin by compressing using a ZIP utility and posting it as attachment.

In XDF, Advanced $0D v125.xdf, under Open Loop AFR parameters locate Stoichiometric AFR constant - which is set to 14.7 - you can adjust it in addition with Initial AFR Enrichment in Park/ Neutral constant.

Re: Whats the deal?

Yes, WinZip is one of many programs that will do the trick.

I do not know TunerCat, but here are the EPROM addresses for Open Loop AFR parameters (from TunerPro XDF file):

Stoichiometric AFR
Location: 48DD

Initial AFR Enrichment in Park/ Neutral
Location: 48E1

$0D mask (and PCM) is brand new to me as well - I only had a limited time playing with it. Perhaps some one with a bit more experience can chime in! Post your bin and engine combo information.
