NEED help. REALLY BAD
NEED help. REALLY BAD
SO I have posted before and gotten a lot of different stuff that i checked with no results. I have also read about the same problem with tohers getting the same advice. Heres the situation-
1991 rs 305 tbi. blaster coil, msd wires, new plugs, kn o/e with top plate, new cap rotor and ignition module.
While driving my car just shut down. It turns over but wont start. It sputtering under throttle right before it happend. (Felt like running out of gas). I use good quality gas always. I am getting HIGH pressure fuel out of the jets. When I popped the cap off to replace the module I found copper colored dust inside. My thoughts are its the distributor. It is the original and it has 170,000+ miles. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there fuses i could check? If so where which ones ect.
I can get a whole asselmbled dist from jegs (with cap, rotor, and module).
I am sick of driving my gfs car and really need help. The mechanics here all said to replace those things first but im getting desperate.
Can anyone link me to a thread or site on how to change the dist? I have no timing light. I just wanna get close enough to get it to the mechanic to time it.
Please help and attack me with details!
IM DESPERATE
I have owned her for almost 2 years and my dads owned her for 16 years she means a lot.

Have you tested the fuel pressure with a gauge? Sounds like it could be your fuel pump. How about checking for spark?

Ignition modules tend to cause those type of problems.Stop working when they get hot.You need to check for constant spark when it doesn t start. If you want a distributor than go to advance and get a reman cardone.Ive been running one with no problems. It comes complete with pick up coil and ignition module. If you want a new cap and rotor get borg warner or just put the one you just bought back on.You can also pull the ignition module and take to them and have it tested.Good luck
