distributer

anyone have any advice on a good aftermarket performance distributer. The 350 i purchased and am building up didnt have one in it. or would i be better off just getting a stock one and upgrading the components?

My preference has always been stock GM small cap distributors. With an OEM GM ignition module (even if already used). Make sure that the shaft bushings are OK. Then pull it part and clean it. If the shaft is stubborn (varnish deposits) use some 2+2 gum out sprayed in from the bottom.

Replace the pick up coil (new one), and use new heat sink compound under the ignition module. Reassemble and use it. Note that the dimple on the gear goes in line with the slot on the top of the shaft. Can also shim the shaft end play for 15 - 20 thou (NO tighter).
