Too much air?

Since early TBI vehicles are not equipped with a MAF sensor if you installed a functional ram air on one would it run too lean because it is only programmed to deliver a certain amount of fuel and now you are shoving a bunch of air down the throttle body?

Re: Too much air?

You assume ram air works

But yes improving the breathing on any motor will tend to lean out the mix at certain points under load.

A MAF car has the ability to compensate up to a point and even an SD car has O2's but at some point both will need electronic tuning.

Re: Too much air?

same question can be asked of adding a blower. If ram air increases air flow 5% the WOT would need to be adjusted in .bin(enrichen). A WB would be helpfull. CL will take care of itself.
