350 TBI into Jaguar XJ6
350 TBI into Jaguar XJ6
Hi
, I just joined tis forum - wow,.. so much information!! However what I am trying to find out is:
I have a 1986 Jaguat XJ6 (just restored) and I want to swap a 350 TBI / 4L60 into it.
I have the complete wiring harness and ECM (matched set 1227747) from a 1989 ASTRO van - the van had a 4.3 and 3.08 rear axle ratio.
I know that several Astro van owners have installed 350 Chevy engines into their vans, and have been able to use the stock wiring harness/ECM by just changing the chip in the ECM to a v8 chip. So my thinking is that I should be able to use the complete harness and ECM from an AStro van when I install the 350 TBI into the Jaguar.
My question is what chip (broadcast code) should I try to get? The Jag weighs 4000 lbs and has a 2.88 rear axle ratio.
I am trying to build a nice luxury cruiser with reliability and decent fuel mileage. Need about 225 - 250 HP and the car will be used mainly on highway/freeways. Would like to keep the engine stock. I will be using a 1989/1990 350 v8 engine and the trans is 4L60
I have an Astro van so I can easily trace the wires on my van and copy their locations on the Jaguar. Any help would sure be appreciated. I am doing this on a budget ( as usual ) Currently collecting parts and information. TIA

Re: 350 TBI into Jaguar XJ6
Welcome to TGO
Even though your questions is not third gen related I'll try to help.
1) If you are using 7747 ECM you'll need BCC ASDU which was used in '89 pickups (350/700R4 GU2). There are several ways of getting new EPROM - check Moates for bin. ASDZ also should work
2) Inside of your ECM you'll have to replace 6 cyl CALPAK with 8 cyl CALPAK. This is a bit more challenging and expensive - CALPAK chip is soldered in and replacement chips are hard to find. Alternately source a V8 ECM - E-bay and JY's are full of them. Make sure to get ASDU/DZ BCC calibration.
3) Make sure that your TBI has 62lb (truck) injectors - this will match BCC
4) Visit JTR.com and get correct VSS.
5) I am assuming that you have late 700R4 (non electronic 4L60)
