305 TBI stalls when hot
305 TBI stalls when hot
I recently purchased a 1991 Camaro RS TBI that likes to shut off when its up to operating temperature. Sometimes in warm weather, it takes multiple cranks to start. The man I bought it from claims that he rebuilt the TBI unit and set the idle to low due to the lack of a functioning tachometer in the car. Most mechanics I have talked to say that it is not the idle causing this, but a bad air/fuel sensor, or possibly a vaccum leak. Is it cheaper to fix this or convert to a carberator?

i had the same prob but mine would stall out at maybe 210 bout there. i just put 87 octane and it hasnt done it since. but also i would replace the tbi with a carb you get more power.

Coolant temperature sender, vacuum leak, map sensor.....I did the shotgun method since I did not know what the problem was..Good luck..
