Hey guys im a fairley new owner of a 92 camaro rs with a 305 tbi i am looking for cheap simple ways to up the ponies at my rear wheels and so far i have put an open element air cleaner in replace of the stock air cleaner and i put a non restrictive glasspack muffler on the exhaust and also cut off the catalytic converter so its just runnin from the manifolds to a glasspack. how much do you think my hp has gone up and any ideas on how to get more hp. O and i need instructions on how to remove the air injection that pumps cold air to the cat cause i cut that off so theres no need for it takin up space

 

u really didnt gain all that much if any, the open element air filter probably helped but cutting off the cat ( is there any exhaust after the glasspack? im guesing u put the glasspack in place of the cat?) u probably lost some torque becuase freeing up the exhaust removes back presure which could cause damage to ur valves. i have a hypertec chip that i have for my 91 tbi that u can put into ur computer takes about 10 mins.. im going lsx so no use for it any more.. it modifiys ur air to fuel ratio, trans shifting points and fan temp. i would also go with a 160 degree therostate if installing this chip.. u really dont notice the power gain from the chip right away but drive it for 2 months then take it out and ull notice that its not there lol.. ill give it to u for 50$ shipped.. also if u want to feel some exta power when u get on it i would say get some 3.73 gears in ur rear end..

 

as for the pump u need a delete pully,might be able to get away with getting a fan belt for the same motor just without ac but not sure.. and yea u will notice that.. same as if u took off the ac pump.. the less ur motor has to work the easyier it will run.. just crawl under there and take a look at the brackets should be able to unbolt it easy might need to take off another bracket to be able to get to it but not hard just get in there and get dirty, thats the best way to learn in my opinion.

 

You wont really burn your valves by running a short exhaust....

i wasnt stating that the valves would burn cuz of the short exhaust i was meaning because of the lack of back pressure.. if u want the chip just pm me and we can set something up
