Intake Question,

I was at the local pick and pull today and stumbled onto a 80's camaro, the car was in pretty good shape and when i lifted the hood i found a few goodies, I pull the headers and also the intake manifold. The headers are made by hedman and the intake manifold is a edlebrock performer rpm 7101, I know the headers will work but i was not sure about the intake any help would be appreciated.

My car is a 1991 Pontiac firebird with a 305 TBI

Re: Intake Question,

Here's a link to it at Summit Racing = http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ED...uery=CID%7c305 If it can be made to work on a "91" Firebird , that I don't know.

Re: Intake Question,

1) It won't be emissions legal, since the 7101 does NOT have an EGR provision.
2) The bolt holes are angles wrong for your heads - the holes can be elongated in the intake with a drill to attach to your heads - do a search here for several discussions on elongating the holes.
3) You'll need an adapter plate to attach the TBI onto the intake, about $40.
4) It might help performance a tad, but as long as you have the crappy TBI heads, you won't notice much.

Unless the headers have the AIR tubes on them, they won't be emissions legal either.

Re: Intake Question,

I think you should tackle mastering EFI tuning before you attempt such a swap.

If emission standards are not a concern, & you have internal engine mods requiring such a manifold, then, and with the full ability to tune the engine, such a swap could be made.

The 4 center bolt holes can be drilled oval & wedge spacers used.

Bottom line, not worth the effort unless you have a cam, head work & can tune it.

there ya go. If its a performer RPM manifold you should be able to make 5-10 times your money on it. and the headers if you cant use them if thier in decent shape throw some exhaust paint on it and sell them too. Nice finds man.
