doing the unthinkable. now i need help
now i need help. im doing the tbi to carb swap. its currently a 305. so due to my laziness i know that there are many stickies for this famous swap but i need some quick help.
i have a holley 650 cfm carb and intake. now i need to know whats left for me to get. other than distributor and fp regulator.
what else is there ???
how in the world do i remove the other wires without damaging them? somebody wants to buy the tbi set up. i hate to clutter the board but i need some fast help and dont have the time to look. so do i need any brackets for throttle? the car has a 5 speed in it.

Let us know how much of a seat in the pants hp gain you notice wen you'r finish.
I alwas wondered how much faster a bone stock LO3 is with a only carb swap.

Never done it. Just ditch the TBi setup and computer and stuff. change the manifold. carb and an older GM HEI distributor run the wires to run that distributor and let her rip.

Well that was a huge waste of time. I had a buddy of mine help me he does this stuff all the time and we finally got done today i started it up ran revved the whole 9 yards. But AS SOON as i take the ebrake off and roll it back it stalls and wouldnt you know it after 6 hours of working on that it still wouldnt start.

Sounds like its flooded out. The only way to fix that with a carb is to pull all the plugs, and use a propane torch to drive all the fuel off of the electrodes so it will start.
I dont think you'll notice much of a gain. Maybe a little with a better intake manifold, but the TBI isnt the restriction in a stock L03. Its mainly the cam, heads, and exhaust.

The main engine wiring harness is not real hard to remove, but it takes some time. Youll need to re-run the body harness once you get it seperated out from the main harness (which is what you want to remove). Youll need to take the pass. fender off of the car. From there, the harness that goes to the ECM can be removed. Next, youll need to pull off some of the split loom as well as remove teh bulkhead connector on the firewall, and seperate out the few wires that go into the main harness. I think its just a few things like the fuel pump relay and power, if I recall. A good time to do this is once you get all the smog junk off and have access to most of the engine.
