just ask any police officer. i think they can, or call a lock smith. or you can get a wire hanger and work at it.

Yup I can tell you how to do this.. One thing you can do is if you have t-tops just pull the window a bit and use a coat hanger to pull on the t-top thing unless your t-tops are locked.. You can also use the coat hanger down the side of the door and open the lock that way... Also you can use the coat hanger (streched out of course) to poke the button in the middle of the two power window switches on the console which pops the hatch... Then just climb through the hatch to get in.. If you can't get any of these going you can always call a locksmith to pick the lock.. And no I am not a car theif but having locked my keys in my iroc many times I have figured out quite a few tricks..

use a yard stick... slide it between the weatherstripping and the glass at the back of the window and push the lock **** forward. The wood won't scratch your paint and it takes less than a minute.

Man, Ive done that so many times. Its nice being in the military, the MP's use the slimjim for free, but theyre not responsible for damage. I finally got a keyless entry so It will not happen again... $50 well spent.

Okay, thanks a lot for the ideas guys. We tried using a coat hanger, but we couldn't reach the locks. The rear hatch is also located above the radio, so it's kind of difficult to reach too. I'm liking the yard stick idea, we might have to try that tomorrow. If anyone else has any ideas, keep 'em coming, I really appreciate it.

man what the heck!!

I have locked my keys in my car a lot of times at work. I worked at a car wash in high school and the guys there could get into every car except for three. That includes using a door unlocking kit made for many types of different cars and a slim jim.

they never did get doors open, so I had my mom bring my SPARE keys to work. how embarrassing. oh well.

when you get the doors unlocked, go and get another full set of keys, and another door key for your wallet. it'll usually cost $1 per key.

I am sooooo glad that I have a spare set because I locked my keys in my car about 2 hours from home and all I had to do is call the people that I was staying with me bring me my keys.(my parents had the door key that goes in my wallet)

1st moral of the story: don't lock your keys in your car

2nd moral: get spare keys

Later,
Jesse

When I got my 91 V6 we didn't have a door key and had to go out of town. I didn't want to leave $500 worth of leather seats in it while it sat in my driveway for a week so I locked it up and figured I'd get in one way or another when I got back a week later. The yard stick was my solution.

One other suggestion, look around under the car. I had my 83 for about 3 years and had suffered many a "can you bring me a spare set of keys" and low and behold there was a spare set of keys twisttied to the radiator support under the car.

Ha! I know that one. I had taken apart by old 84 and been working on it for six months before I noticed the magnetic box in the fenderwell with another set in it.

Do you have t-tops that are unlocked. all you have to do is slide a thin rigid pice of plastic or metal between the window and the seal and shove the handle open. not even a minutes worth of work. this is a handy one for all you t-top guys out there. Good luck getting in

Well, this morning we got the door unlocked. We wedged the window forward and used a rod to push the t-tops open. I've already got two extra keys ordered. Thanks to everyone for your ideas and help, I appreciate it.

lol...

if it makes you feel any better, i nought my car almost two years ago, and i dont HAVE any door keys. Previous owner never had them either, apparently only the original owner had keys. I have an ignition key, and an alarm system that locks and unlocks the doors when i arm it. Its quite the pain in the butt when im wiring the stereo and reset the battery. I make it a point now, whenever im under the hood, to keep a door open, lol. I know, i know... i could replace the lock cylinders very cheap, but im so lazy its not funny. Plus, most of the year it sits at home while i drive the loser crusier Pont. 6000 safari wagon, lol.

Hah! i remember i locked my keys in my car once. it was in my chevy sprint (the cool 1 liter 3 cylinder version)

Stuck at a radio station in hawaii, which was closed, in the middle of the night.

One of the rear flap windows was wired shut with a coat-hanger thickness copper wire on the drivers side (who ever owned it before me) had done. so i whipped out my pocket knife, and but single strands, and kept doing it untill i was able to pry the reat window all the way open.

then i grabbed a 15' metal pole that was lying next to a construstion site a bit down the road, and backed way away from the rear of my car, and slit it in, snapped on the dome light with it, then unlocked the passenger door. let me tell you, that pole got heavy real quick!

after i got my camaro, i knew i couldn't ever get it open again, so i made a set of keys, and shoved them in my wallet, which i keep in there just in case. havn't locked my keys in the car yat, but i know that next time if i do, im prepaired. VERY worth the dollar or two it cost me for some new keys.

good luck!

I got a spare set made for my Camaro not long after I got it and I've never had to use them. One of the first days I drove a different car to work I locked the keys in the car. Me, my dad, and I guy I worked w/ tryed for hours to get the door unlocked w/ a slim jim b4 we gave up and called the police to help us. I had spares made the next day.

I locked my keys in my car yesterday. MAN do I love spare keys in my wallet! If I didn't have those, my parents would have had to mail their set from Colorado to New Mexico, just so I could open my car.

Later,

86 firebird I locked my keys in one night. There was a cop I knew at the other end of the parkin lot so we got him to come over...no matter how hard he tried he could not get it open, he said camaros and firebirds are the hardest cars to break into. .....
the funny thing was the window was down like an inch or two and my girlfriend weighs like 100 pounds so the cop asked her to try to put her arm in...she couldnt get it. so once desprite 10 minutes after the cop left I tried my arm..somehow mine worked and we sat there the whole time for no reason.

85 firebird / no T-tops, no power locks..

i was once at a k-mart or something w/ my friend, and we were like the last ones out so the parking lot was totally empty and dark and i realized i locked the keys in.. we tried to get to the inner door panel lock switch with a long piece of wire through the glass which we had pulled back a bit, but no luck after over an hour.. cops would go by every 15 minutes or so, and not one of them stopped to investigate.. if we were stealing a car, we would have had all that time to be all cool & relaxed and steal it easy..

anyway, long story short i had to call home about 90 minutes away towake up my mom and ask her to set the spare keys outside and i'd come get 'em.. then my friend drove me to my house, 90 min away, then drove me back, and i got in with that spare set..

on my 82 t/a however, it has non-locking t-tops which are very easy to break into, unfortunately.. i hope i never get into that situation.

LEARN FROM MY MISTAKE! I RECENTLY LOCKED MY KEYS ON MY CAR AND DID NOT MAKE A SPARE SET. NOW I HAVE TO GET A NEW DOOR BECAUSE I DESTORYED THE LOCKING MECHANISM AND THE HANDLE AS WELL (actually the door was messed up anyway so I need a another one). MAKE A SPARE SET AND AN EXTRA DOOR KEY AND PUT IT ON YOUR WALLET!

There nothing like the feeling of stupidity when you can see the keys on the dash through the window late at night.

If anyone needs to read about how to steal a car, then they're going to get caught anyways. Hell, it's common knowledge just to pull the window out.

Hell, I leave my car open all the time. It makes more sense than having someone use a blade on it.

And I hide a key for the door on the car (cuz I is an idgit sometimes).

Heh I was too afraid to buy a vert for that very reason... But then again, if you're going to think of it that way, why not just leave the windows down with a hard top, because it stops someone from breaking them? :P

my cars easy to get into......
passenger side lock is completly gone so the only way to get in that side is from inside the car, the drivers side locks from inside and you can unlock it from the outside, but you just need to turn the thing....no key needed (theres nothing of any value whatsoever in the car so meh).......hell, half the time i unlock it with my key to the Cadillac just cause its the first one i grab in my pocket (its the biggest on the keyring)

I have locked my keys in my firebird about 5 times. My driverside window is fairly loose, and I can just pull it out and slide enough of my arm in to flip the lock **** over... Then open the handle with the free hand.
