Re: best heads combo for cam

Well a head change is deffinately should be in your interest. Now if you do not plan on changing anything later. You can use a stock head. But power will not be there. The best bang for your buck is to swap vortec heads on there and create some way to run the egr. Unless you want to delete it which you can by having a custom chip tuned. Other than that. YOu can purchase some edelbrock heads, summit heads, designed for centerbolts. They have 170cc intake runners which arent too big to outflow your rpm potential and can make okay power im sure.

Re: best heads combo for cam

I would get rid of that cam as quick as possible. A 30 $ LT1 cam with 300k miles on it will make more power.

There is also no good point for that double timing chain, except if they use crappy materials and crappy craftsmanship, that require two to make up for the lack of strengt and quality.

Hmm...no extra 100$ for a new top roller cam, now asking what heads to buy...
Anyway, flat tapped pic, 447 lift and 220 duration specs aint anough information.

Re: best heads combo for cam

nope. he got a deal and he will stick with the deal until he realizes it wasnt great!!

I know it doesnt make the most sense. And I am in no way trying to argue with you. Some people are stuck. and thanks for the links I had never seen those. I think the upmost of your posts and knowledge on engines btw. But just to dive into this a little more. The same manufacturers make double roller over single roller. If a single roller is suffice then why bother making the double? And Is it really a cardinal sin to run a double over a single? What kind of benefit does running just a single present over a double? The average person would see the double and think. Well its stronger, less prone to stretching so whereas the timing will stay more consistent. I can see why the original veh. manufacturer would run single's to save $$$ on cost of building cars. Why do the aftermarkers push double rollers, performance shops, engine builders, etc? It is not because they are making any more $$$ of double's because the single's I have seen comparable to the double's prices. Just curious to why your swayed so far. That is all.
