?'s on deleting heater core hoses

okay, ive searched on this subject but havent found the answer to my question. can i delete the hoses by running a hose from the radiator to the intake manifold? i want to clean up my engine bay and my heater core is bypassed anyway.

Re: ?'s on deleting heater core hoses

Yes, you can. However, they are different sizes so you will need some sort of adapter. The cleanest way to do it is to go to the plumbing section of Lowes or Home Depot and get a brass adapter to fit the threads in the intake manifold and the hose size from the radiator. It'll have pipe threads on one side and a hose barb on the other. IIRC, its 3/4 threads and a 5/8 hose, but I could have that backwards..

Re: ?'s on deleting heater core hoses

What I did on my 91' TBI was I ran a short piece of heater hose from the back intake water outlet right over to my heater core. Then just run the other heater core hose directly to your radiator. I still have heat, my AC still blows cold, and I have no ugly coolant bypass valve in my way.

Re: ?'s on deleting heater core hoses

this is what i did i cut the hose from the back of the intake manifold just enough to turn it around and hook it up to the heater core. i removed the heater core bypass valve and all of its hoses. i cut the vacuum lines to it and then plugged them up. the on hose that would hook up to the hard return line i just plugged it up and everything still works fine and looks way cleaner.
