whats the difference between big block chevy TBI, and Sbc TBI?

i was wanting to know something, i was really curious if the TBIs have physical symmetrycal or are they different sizes?
Sorry if this post makes no sence, i have not seen a throttle body for a big block ever..

let's expand upon this and answer your question with a question. Is the purpose of your question that you think if you find a "bigger" TBI then your LO3 will be more powerful?

Give up on that idea right away. Your TBI is more than sufficient to provide the air/fuel that can be handled by the cam/heads

But yes the 454 tbi is bigger, it will not bolt directly on you'll have to run some sort of an adapter, or have your intake throttle bores bored out. and you do not need it. for sure! trust us.

well on a higher cubic inch engine you may need it. u were thinking of doing it on the 400? that could use it. carbing would be "easier"

yes you stole my heart with that qeustion. The 400 SBC i have been planning, the qeustion was for, thinking the cubes and everything. And yea it would be easier to carb, but the TBI i was thinking of keeping it on the car, keep it sort of stock looking, and i also seen adapters for chevrolet spread bore four barrel intakes, would this be sufficent? I like the idea i could almost set a TB on an rpm air gap

yea id have to agree with what you say, bc quite frankly i am sorta a dumby to the efi. I have been in knee deep research of PROMs, another intrest i have now thanks to this site, which is a good compliment. Ive also had craziest idea, if a regular four barrel carb with that big of a TBI dont run it, run a dual qaud carb spread bore intake for a sbc, and run the itty bitty 305 and V6 TBIs, that would be intresting. Like i said crazy ideas.

Summit does not sell this. Only way to get it is the website listed or a used one somewhere. Thier is a group buy going on at the moment if you want one!

Re: whats the difference between big block chevy TBI, and Sbc TBI?

as much as i would like to get my own EBL, i cant for 300 bucks. but have no fear. I know my fellow gear head bro in law knows somebody with some really nice hotrods, hes made his own diagnostics deal that tells him the troubles of his car, of coarse he made this device himself. So im thinking he might have one.

Well, I have read a few threads on different forums about using 2 stock TBIs, it seems they all run into roadblocks of some sort, i.e. money, time, change of plans, etc. Then they don't post about them any more. So I started a thread here:

http://www.eagle-mark.com/Forums/vie....php?f=9&t=191

I have been working on tuning my setup for a few of months now and there have been some setbacks, and some really good learning opportunities. It does run pretty well, but I do have plans to keep refining this. At some point I may make my own MPFI manifold and go that route, but I will still use the stock GM PCM to control it.
