Fuel pump questions
So my car has been running rough the past few days. I suspect its the fuel pump. Had my mechanic friend put a gauge on it to check and see. My questions are:
1. The gauge read 10 psi. What is the factory stock reading on an L03? I searched but found nothing.
2. What are some recommendations for a replacement? AC Delco, Delphi, Airtex, Walbro?
3. My fuel gauge doesn't work either. Quit after the last time I had the fuel pump replaced. What all do I need to get it working again? Just a new float or is there more to it?
Thanks for any help, Chris

Re: Fuel pump questions
I'd do Walbro or Delco, skip the cheap stuff.
TBI car should read 12psi.
Have you changed the filter in the last year? Might solve the issue.
Usually, fuel pumps work or they don't - so if it's working, I'd look elsewhere before droppin the tank again.

Re: Fuel pump questions
I just bought a new fuel filter but haven't installed it yet. Might try that first. I had another pump go bad a few year ago, but it didn't die right away. In fact I drove it for a few weeks before replacing it. The car just ran really bad while I drove it. It has the same feel and symptoms now as it did before. It idles ok in neutral but dies when you put it in gear. I have to hit the gas to keep it running. It has little to no power when driving and runs real rough.
I hate to have to drop the tank to replace it if its not bad, but I think with the low reading on the gauge and the similar symptons as before it leads me to believe the pump is starting to give out.
In fact the car has been run out of gas several times in the past five years due to the broken gauge, maybe 8-10 times in the past four to five years. And it often runs at a half tank or less. I know the pumps need a ceratain level to keep them cool and don't like to run low.

Re: Fuel pump questions
DELCO EP241
Or walbro 190lph pump
do not run the 255lph
But also dont change your pump til your sure it is. 10 psi is iwthin specs. 9-13 psi for stock setups.

Re: Fuel pump questions
ten psi at the filter seems a lil low. but! if you checked the pressure with the regulator still hooked up then i could be a problem also. do this. get a pair of pliers and squeeze the fuel return line under the hood with a gauge on it and see if the pressure rises.
