383 TBI build help
Hey Guys new here and looking for some help with a project that is only on paper for right now..
I have a 94 C2500 pickup that I use to pull my drag car to and from the strip on weekends. The 5.7 in there now is getting tired and looking to build a 383 for it and get some more power for them long hills here in NJ.
I am looking for ideas for this build with as many suggestions on what way to go. I do want to go with a hyd roller for sure but need some idea of what duration and lift. Very impress with what fast355 has to say with what he has done!!!
Also glad I found this sight and will post updates as soon as the build starts...Thanks again Barry

Re: 383 TBI build help
Could start by downloading camquest6 http://www.camquest.com/ after that use a dyno symulator for more detailes.
Some more useful calculators http://www.kb-silvolite.com/calc.php
0.040-0.045 in. quench distance will keep away detonation.
Once you have a build sheet, can then calculate TB and injector size.
To tune the beast EBL flash http://dynamicefi.com/

Re: 383 TBI build help
I doubt you learned anything new, if you build your drag race engines
EBL. Not sure for your application, but on thirdgens it is plug and play.
Around 20 different bins. (calibrations) are included, chose the closest to your application and make all the necessary changes.
Make sure to get a computer friendly cam, after that there is autstanding support about the tuning process, here on TGO. Mainly in the DIY prom forum.

Re: 383 TBI build help
Thanks Now I have a set of 14101083 heads and a roller block. You said a "Computer" friendly cam??
I guess either a GM cam or aftermarket for TBI or TPI will work..
I have a 540 in a Beretta and put a Data logger in it last year and with doing some tuning on the carb with EGT and 02 sensors along with some chassis tuning have picked up a 10th in et and almost 1 MPH...The info that you get with the logger is very cool and very addictive!!
