tbi injector and distributor problems
ok to start off i have a 305 tbi.
about last month i blew a head gasket but the car still ran so within the last month i replaced the head gaskets and the intake manifold gaskets and have it put all back together but now it wont start. i put the #1 cylinder at tdc and the distributor rotor pointing at the #1 plug and go to start it the passenger side injector sprays fuel to the roof in my garage, so i flip the distributor around get it back to tdc match up the plug wires and nothing.
any suggestions on what could be the problem thanks in advance

Re: tbi injector and distributor problems
Fix the fuel leak first or you'll start a fire.
Make sure #1 is on compression stroke when you line up the marks.
What do you mean "nothing", no crack or spray or what?

did you pull the #1 plug and turn the engine over until there was compression? once you start to feel compression then keep turning the engine till the mark lines up on the front cover and balancer. that should get you started. then set the timing with the car running to get it right.

and fix the fuel leak, no fuel should shoot to the roof of your garge for any reason.

Re: tbi injector and distributor problems
i ment nothing as in it doesnt spray to the roof it just cranks, but with it back to the other way itll crank and backfire a lil. i dont have the tools to pull off the timing chain cover so i just put my thumb over the #1 spark plug hole. this weekend when i get paid im going to go get it though. how do i know if its on the compression stroke or exhaust stroke.
Re: tbi injector and distributor problems
you should have a timing mark on the crank pulley that you line up to the timing scale mounted on the timing chain cover there should be a little slit in the pulley where the mark is put white paint on it set it at zero after the intake vavle shuts
