Im pretty positive your block is a roller and already has a hydraulic roller cam in it. I'm assuming you meant the bosses andbthe dog bones and all that jazz?

Re: 305 tbi help!?
Starting 1987 model year GM equipped all passenger car SBC V8 (305/350) with roller cams. Trucks were not so fortunate and continued to use flat tappet lifters until introduction of Vortec (L30/L31) in 1996 model year trucks. An SBC block (305/350 car or truck) cast after 1986 is more than likely have all provisions for roller cam - i.e. lifter valley spider retention bosses. There was a short transition period between 1985 to 1986 when SP RMS SBC blocks did not had had aforementioned provisions for a roller cam.
To be certain locate block casting number behind the china wall or pull intake manifold. RPO stamping can also additional clues provided that PO did not swap cams.
