need some opinions

I know I'm gonna probably get mixed answers but I'm starting my planning/saving for my 383 swap and I would like some opinions on the intake setup, should I keep and soup up the tbi or swap over to some other intake? I dont plan on going all out race car, just mild street/strip

Re: need some opinions

Well this is my first car with fuel injection so i want to try and keep it fuel injected. I was looking at the blueprint 383 with the tbi intake on it already, but I didnt know if i should keep it tbi or not

Re: need some opinions

If you are building a 383... The TBI intake would need max porting. And still lack flow
If I were you I would purchase a performance intake like a weiand stealth.
And look at patriot heads or similar..drop 50#'s and have a respectful ride

I'm long out of the carb setups... I thought with a low profile cleaner the setup will clear

Re: need some opinions

Have your 383 built for strong low/midrange torque, get an edelbrock performer rpm intake & adaptor, I'd look into getting some vortec heads as they have good budget/performance ratio. It'll be easier to get it to run good if you use a mild cam. I'd get a complete 350 vortec engine from the junk yard, use that to build your engine. It'll come w/ the good heads & roller cam.

Does everything match up pretty good with the carb'd intake (sensors etc)

Re: need some opinions

Ahh good point, so is there any specific tb yall would recommend? Or should I just use a 350 or 454?

Re: need some opinions

Stick with the TB you have (do the common mods), find a carb manifold you like & use a quality adapter to mount the TB.

The biggest mistake, & first sign of induction ignorance, is the use of a larger than necessary device. If you are going to run your 383 over 7k rpm I suggest a 46mm TB from these guys,

Edit: It would be smart if you first make your ECM tunable & learn to tune on your existing engine.

Re: need some opinions

On the carb'd intakes does it matter if its single or dual plane with the tb?

Re: need some opinions

If its a 383, I'd go w/ a dual plane with the center cut down alittle. Or add a carb spacer if theres room.

Re: need some opinions

I was readin the other day that for a carb on a dual plane you wana go a lil bit bigger in the cfm as compared to what you'd use on a single plane. I assume it would be the same for tbi

That information is incorrect, savvy guys know that a dual plane only hides the gross ignorance of over-doing the fuel metering device better.
