exhaust help

so im finishing my exhaust on my firebird. i got the shorty headers. 2.5 inch collectors 1 5/8 primarys. so im gonna be getting a y pipe next. im gonna be getting the flowmaster over axle pipe from summit and ill be getting a flowmaster muffler. i was wondering what else will i need?

should i run a catalytic converter or not? maybe one with a seal air tube? car has no emissions on it at all so im wondering is it worth it to put a converter on it or not? and should i do a single in single out muffler? or a single in dual out? is there any difference in power or sound?

thanks for any help

If you don't have to worry about emissions, a cat is just a restriction, so I would leave it out. The only advantage to a dual out muffler is that it looks better. The ones I've heard have a little mellower tone too, but theres no power gain from the single, but it costs less.

Like petrolhead said if you aint got emissions a cat is a waste of money, though someone is about to get on here and say its a federal law to have one which it is but i'm not runnin one either. As for a muffler i would go with the single in dual out mostly for looks, it gives the read a more balanced look. I wana swap my muffler out for a cherry bomb extreme single in dual out to replace whatever i have on mine now.

Honestly, I don't know where the Federal government gets off saying we shouldn't do what we want with our cars. If we pass emissions in our respective states there shouldn't be any problem. But it's more of an ideological dilemma of course, since nobody pays attention to those laws anyway
