305 TBI-350 TBI Question/help advice needed
Hello everyone im sure the above topic has been covered numerous times. I have read through some of the messages but I do not find any answers that fit my question/issue.
OK I blewthe 305 TBI that came in my 89 camaro convertable. I have taken out the old engine and replaced with a 350 TBI from a 91 Truck or Van not sure.
So anyways what I am planning to re-use from the 305 is the dist, throttle body,305 CPU. The 350 has the knock sensor in the block already.
So my question is what else i need (the cheapest route) to get her going again? I am going to re-use the stock 305 exhaust manifolds so I can hook up all the smog crap( CA car). The donor car also had the 700R4 as this one does. I am not trying to high performance or anything like that just want her to run and be my daily driver as before.
I dont know if I really need to change the CPU or add the 350 "chip".
Again I want to use all the 305 TBI stuff to avoid any further headaches/costs.
If I do need to change the CPU etc would the smog guy notice its a different CPU then the stock 305?
I seen a whole 350 TBI sensors/injectors set for about 70$ on ebay also seen a 350 TBI CPU on ebay for around the same...so would this be the cheapest easiest route? OR can I get by with what I have?

There is a sticky thread for this up on top of this part of the site. like 3 or 4 threads above. You need to change to a 350 injectors, 350 Chip, 350 knock sensor, 350 knock control module. that is all you really need to do. It will run witha 305 chip and computer. could be a little lean. throttle bodies flow the same so but the 350 tbi has bigger injectors. hope this helps.

and there are certain ecm's that will run a 350 and the rest will not.
