So ima be getting a 86 z28 its a 305 with a manual transmission.I just wanna know what are some good upgrades that are reasonable and wont cost me $1000's of dollars.
ohhh and by the way its a carburated engine. I was also wondering what type of engine it is and the power output on it,thanks, if anyone knows.
The engine is all stock.

Can't help you with the numbers for the carb'd motor but I can assure you it can be found in the thirdgen data sheets for the '86s.
I've also personally seen at least 5 other threads just like this one so check out those.

While I'm here though, a good cam and nice exhaust won't set you back too much and will make a noticeable difference. But if you do too much you'll need to re-tune.

That would be an LG4, putting out 165hp, 250ft-lbs torque stock.
Exhaust and carb tuning should bump you up about another 30-50hp. If it's all stock and in good condition I'd give some consideration to restoring it (with exhaust modded, of course- the exhaust systems on these cars are simply asphyxiating)

Start with some sort of cool air intake for that carb. Routing it from the front to carburetor is best but you can do what I did and use a open element like you see on many cars and its something that can be done now ,plus its fairly easy to do.
