please someone help!!!! need some pointers

hello F-body people i have a ongoing problem that has costed me alot of money and i cant figured it out. heres the deal... the car will sometimes run awesome ( not even show a engine light or anything) and all of a sudden it will just die but if you pump the pedal wide open it will stay running (barley). this situation last for about 30 secs and goes away. i have replaced... fuel filter, all vaccum lines (that i could see),ignition coil, entire distibutor including the ignition control modules (on firewall and on the distributor and knock sensor),oxygen sensor, MAP sensor, cleaned the egr, iac sensor, ecm (main one under the dash), coolant temp sensor (both fan and ecm one)....and thats all i can remember as of now but i buy something new for it every week or when i get a lil green.i have also checked the fuel pressure and it reads good but... it will not act up unless you are driving down the road.as i have read the pump could showq good in the driveway and not be good on the street. i am a decent shade tree mechanic and i am good with google (thats why im here now you guys are F&*%king awesome)so any suggestions will be used trust me i am ready to light a match to this car. anyways its a 1989 RS with a TBI 305 and 700r-4. heres a lil history on the car... it caught on fire going down the interstate (it broke a piston and the tbi went up) so me and my dad rebuilt it. it is bored over .030 and the trans has been rebuilt ( by us ) replaced some of the wiring but most of it is the original. i have noticed the volt meter on the dash acts funny sometimes it says 15v sometimes its at 12v ( seems to run better at the lower voltage could be electical i guess). the tach recently stopped working. non of the a/c control are working anymore. HERE ARE THE ENGINE CODES ITS HAS 24, 32, 44. WELL there it is i tried to cover it all but if you need more info just ask. thanks for your time and help

24.Circuit fault in vehicle speed sensor24- Circuit fault in vehicle speed sensor

32- Fault in Barometric pressure sensor circuit or fault in exhaust gas recurculation valve diagnostic switch OR fault in electric vaccum regulator valve.

44-Oxygen sensor lean

Here is a link for future codes https://www.thirdgen.org/service-engi...ht-error-codes

Im gonna be honest you replaced alot of stuff, maybe you have a bad ground connection somewhere. Id hate to tell you something and have you waste more money.Hopefully someone else has some better input. If I was you I would check your ground wires and just search the forums for someone who had similar issues.

Re: please someone help!!!! need some pointers

My money is on the vehicle speed sensor . you see , the MAP sensor and VSS sensor work together to provide information for the ECM , then the ECM adjusts fuel trim according to speed and conditions . Sounds like your VSS is bad and not feeding it to your ECM witch means no way to correctly adjust fuel trim and that is probably why you are running lean . Someone correct me if im wrong but i think the EGR valve also works based on speed ??? , witch is why you probably got that code 32 . VSS should be located on trans.

I have had the same thought about the vss but don't know where it into replace it. As I mentioned earlier I rebuilt the trans and where the haynes manual says there should be a vss there is just a mechanical spinning cable that runs up to the speedometer. Can anyone tell me where it is located on my model.

Re: please someone help!!!! need some pointers

on '89 and earlier, the VSS is behind the speedo-it is
optical and works by reflecting a light beam off the
spinning magnet in the speedo.

Re: please someone help!!!! need some pointers

ok thanks for the help i have went through all of the wiring ang Yes i did find a loose ground just hanging there and put it back whereit went ( on the trans bell housing bolt) and the code 32 went away but the car still has the same problem as before. i have ordered a new VSS and a new VSS buffer. they are on the way. when i install them i will keep you updated on the situation..... and again thanks for the help!!!!!
