11-12 second 305 build, advice and help

hey guys i need some guidance here, a buddy directed me here because of some fast 305 owner's, my goal is to hit low 12's or 11's. im working with a 1990 rs convertible. so im going to give a run down on what i have,

.030 over 305
longtubes
10 bolt with 4.10's from a 4th gen
weld pro stars 15x4's and 15x8's
2 intake manifold Eldlebrock performer, and Eldlebrock Victor jr.
Also have MSD electronics laying around to get the ignition down.
jegs 50GPM electric waterpump idk how you guys feel about these??

these are things i have at the moment that i have bought or came with the car, i have to routes im wanting to go with the car so here is my idea's of what can get me the goal's i desire
12 second NA route
all of the above with the addition of these parts
some trickflow super 23's milled down milled down with .540 max lift
Eldlebrock victor JR
holley 750 dp
comp cams xtreme enerygy 288/294, Lift .520/.540
1.6 roller rockers
msd ignition
and all the other goodies to make it run
4k stall
drag radial's
the 10bolt from the 4th gen
with weight reduction, and suspension

11 second Supercharged set up
either some Vortec heads 1.94 1.50 or the trickflows 23's w/o shaving them.
vortech v3 si-trim on 7-10lbs of boost
Eldlebrock victor Jr intake, not sure on carb for boosted application
full msd ignition
electric water pump
maybe the same cam, im not sure on best cam for boost
3k stall
10bolt from the 4th gen but with some 3.73's or 3.42's
suspension, and weight reducted
Im working on the suspension, i heard lakewood makes some good stuff and BMR does as well, any help on suspension and blower carb and cam would be great. from what i have been told someone here has gone low 12's NA with a 305, with a mild setup. So let me know what you guys think on what i have, and help me see my goal's.

PS, i know its a 305, i have had them and will go that route later but im working with the 305 because i have it, and its fresh, and i wana see what would happen if i built it the way i always wanted to build one, so please dont hate on me to much

i would just build a good bottom end. and then go with a xe268(or somthing close)
heads if you can get the trick flow ones if not just get a set of 113 and work them a bit.
as for the intake you can always try them both.
as for your 12 or 11 sec pass at the track a 100 shot on nitrous will help you get there.
but you will also need a good stall and gears along with a suspension setup.

I would run a good dual plane intake, i dont think the vic jr would run well on that motor. Cam id try next step down if you have decent compression. Its gonna want to turn 6500+ so that bottom end will be stressed abit. 4-4.5k stall likely will work. Its gonna abit sluggish below 4k rpm

ok guys thanks, yeah im going to get the trick flows because looking into the vortec's they need some work to get them to handle a descent cam, and i would be close in money by the time its all said and done, and the trickflows seem to have some room to work with and there aluminum so better for running boost later down the road if i choose to, now with a descent setup i would quess around 400 horse at the crank, and my buddy had a 1991 gt foxbody hatch, with the trickflow top end kit, 4.10's, drag radials, full weight gt, and himself being 250 lbs runs 12.0's to 12.1xx all day, i dont see why if i set my car up with a 4k and some 4.30's maybe and good suspension and tires i couldnt get the same result's if not better. who would you guys recomend for suspension and some sub frame's? thanks guys

Select the right cam to go with your 4000 stall speed, as well as properly matched gears and tire size. Invest in some steel main caps because your going to need to spin the 305 fairly high to get you to your goal, so don't rely on torque. Boost is a different story, as my 305 see's low elevens with 15-psi being babied out of the hole...

Unless I missed something, you're going to need a rollcage to run that fast at the track with a convertible.

yes im planning on a cage, im leaning towards the boosted route, im fairly certain if i do the home work, and take the time to test and tune a nice 305 on 8-10lbs of boost can net me high 11's, a couple people said i could also look into a custom built intercooler for the vortech would also help me out, anyone have info on a carb'd intercooled blower setup?

Boost would be easier to go fast with. Blower kits arent cheap tho unless you score them used. Home built turbo is easiest/cheapest to do IMO.

Only need about 350-360whp to reliably get into the 11's if everything else is setup around it and car is fairly light weight.
