My daily driver is 88 Firebird 305 TBI with just 60k on the speedo. Very tight car and good on fuel. I have a L98 cam from a 350 build and thought it would be a nice bump for some better performance as I figured it should work with the stock ECM or maybe just chip would be needed. I have a nice low mileage 3.23 posi that I would install at time of cam too. Is there anything special I need to do with TBI or ECM? Yep I have the bigger exhaust on the car. Thoughts guys.

Some say even the B-car LT1/Vortec cam needs to be tuned in a 305. I have switched two different TBI truck engines to F/Y car cams without issues. One was a 305 and the other a 350. They both had noticeable improvements in power without driveability issues even on the stock tune. Both trucks had headers, high flow cat, single 3" exhaust along with Edelbrock 3704 intake manifold. On both setups when I started tuning the torque numbers soared. The 350 gained as much as 50 ft/lbs of torque from the tune although had no driveability issues on the stock tune.
That works and figured it hopefully had been tried. Appreciate the info.
