I'm going to get software and programmer to tune at the same time I get bigger tbi unit question is will I be able to tune enough to get running right before I do headers cam heads and intake

ok had to read that twice. a 454 tbi on a stock engine will not net you anything. you need to replace or modify your stock intake to run that. and the stock tbi will run the stock engine just fine with some tuning. you don't need the 454 tbi on a stock engine. look up FAST355 and read his posts and go to his pages and learn.

I know it will not gain anything now. But I need a new tbi unit. I'm going to modify engine soon so I was thinking go a head and get the bigger tbi unit now instead of having to buy twice

ok that makes sense. as long as you know it will drip fuel a tiny bit due to the bores being larger in the tbi than on the intake. there will be a ridge there.

Get a dual plane carb intake for your TBI heads and a TBI adaptor plate.

I used a Performer RPM intake with a Transdapt adapter plate and it worked great. A bigger throttle body on a stockish engine is a waste of time. a stock unit is good for 330hp with the Ultimate mods. You can bore your stock intake to 50mm no problem and port out the runners ALOT. I have a stock TBI intake that I ported for a client to a 1205 gasket and still had a TON of meat left in the ports. I'll see if I can post pics of it later.
