350 Swap - First Build -Suggestions/Solutions?
This is going to be my first engine build and after reading the wealth of information online I think I've confused myself as to what I need to achieve for my build. So here we go...
The Idea: I am swapping my 305 out of my Bbody(93 Caprice) for a 350 out of 89 truck that will more than likely be rebuilt at .30 over.
Unfortunate for me, the heads on the 350 were the 193's.
Car has a 700R4 transmission.
The Goal: Looking to build a decent HP/TQ street 350, nothing overboard. Car is a weekender looking for a little extra get up and go. Obviously the cheaper the better but looking to hang around $2000-2500.
My Build:
Heads - This seems to be the best bang for the buck for upgraded Vortec Heads. The kit below comes with everything needed to install the heads.

It also comes with an edelbrock performer intake. They have a kit as well that includes a TBI intake but I believe the $300 difference in kits would be better spent with just a TBI adapter? I've read the stock distributor won't fit on the carb intake but can that be fixed with just a new distributor or will I have to trim the intake myself?
Headers - Hooker 2466
Camshaft - Hydraulic roller seems the best way to go, and I a lot of good response with the Comp Cam 268. ATM I'm leaning this way.
TBI - I have the 350 TBI w/ 55lbs. I read the budget TBI buildup but it seems the fuel regulator is disco now. Can I get by with new injectors and different regulator? Do I go the 454 TB route? I've read conflicting posts on this subject. I am aware of the fuel pump upgrade need as well.
PCM - I've also lightly glanced over the threads on this subject for DIY or tbichips.com.
Is there anything I've looked over other than what I have posted so far? Any help/direction here would be greatly appreciated.
