IAC pintle position ?
I replaced the IAC valve about a week ago and it ran perfectly. No more stalling at lights but all of a sudden the car wants to sputter at start up and I have to use the throttle/gas pedal to try and keep it going. After a moment its OK.
My question is = when the car is off the pintle of the IAC valve is open. I can not see it in the opening, when I start the car the pintle is almost closed. Is this correct ? It has been sputtering during start up once and a while/randomly when its hot or cold .

Re: IAC pintle position ?
When you key on engine off IAC pindle will cycle fully closed then retract to properr position dependent on engine coolant temp for cranking. If engine is cold it may retract to 150 steps out of 200 max. Engine running engine at 180dF it will be 10-20 stepms of 200. You can see its movement by lookin down the throttle body bore.
you may need to reset min idle. Search for procedure. there was a recent post on that.

Read in the Haynes manual.
Discon neg batt, clear codes/etc for few minutes (they say 30 sec ...)
Then reconnect neg.
Depress gas pedal slightly, start engine run for 5 seconds, shut off.
Wait 10 seconds, restart engines and let run, should be done.
