Re-build opinions???
Little back story as always...
92 RS, 305 TBI, T-5, bone stock other than a 3in exhaust from the stock y-pipe back with no cat.
Im torn and looking for ideas guys. I've had the camaro for a few months at this point and i'm not gonna lie but its costed me wuite a bit in repairs at this point, and I believe that it finally let the passenger side head gasket go.
As a disclaimer, and before I get flamed horribly, I am not looking to build a speed demon. In any way. A little more pep would be nice, but even that is not needed as to me basically driving this car onto base and back and as a weekend cruiser.
The car is beautiful, it's my first Camaro and honestly the closest thing to a "Muscle Car" that I have ever owned. I come from the Honda community so please be nice!
The reason I started this thread as I said previously is for ideas. Should I do a full rebuild on the motor? Should I look into another motor? The end result that i'm going after is to keep it a cruiser. I would like a nice lopey cam, and I want reliability. Should I go Carb'd? I already have a Edelbrock Performer series 650 cfm carb and also the performer series intake, but if i'm tracking correctly it will only fit the 87' and prior heads and mine with a little dremel work. But I could be wrong. Emissions isn't an issue as mine is not due for inspection until Nov and if push comes to shove I can re-register in SC due to me being in the USMC. Budget also comes up. I'll set the budget cap at around $2,000 to include shop fees such as machining. I can do the engine removal and installation here in my garage on base, but I do not have access to a welder and such unless I go to the hobby shop. Just throw some ideas out there for me guys, thank you in advance.

Re: Re-build opinions???
You can get a 350 tbi engine from a good salvage yard for $800. I like carbs but the winter pump fuel causes problems in the the winter in the south since some days are in the 70 degree range. The winter fuel I'm getting boils at 130 degrees.

Re: Re-build opinions???
Rgr that. The only thing im hoping to avoid is still having to rebuild a junkyard motor if i already have a good block and whatnot. But that was deffinently an option ive been looking at. Cool fact about the fuel though, I've never thought of that!
