External electric fuel pump for TBI
Hi,
My stock electric in tank fuel pump is dead.
The previous owner put an external fuel pump. But she's dead too...
my house is sold so I have to move my camaro.
I plan to replace for the moment the external electric fuel pump with a new one.
I look to Summit but there are several external fuel pump.
Can you tell me what I have to pay attention (psi, gph, so on...) to make the right choice.
If you have some link...
I plan to replace in the future the electric in tank fuel pump, but now it's not the moment.
Thanx

Re: External electric fuel pump for TBI
If the external electric pump has to try to pull fuel through a dead internal electric pump, you've probably figured out why the external pump also died.
Assure that the internal pump is REMOVED, and an extension tube with a filter sock at the bottom is fitted to the fuel pump hanger assembly.

Re: External electric fuel pump for TBI
I want to install an external pump only for a short time, to move the car to the new home.
Then after, I will take the time to remove the external pump, and to install an in tank fuel pump.
Now, I haven't the time.
Please help me to find the right external fuel pump...

Re: External electric fuel pump for TBI
Maybe you get six months out of the new pump, maybe you get fifteen minutes. Maybe it won't pump at all because the restriction is just too great.
All that's really important is that the output pressure should not be lower than ~10 psi, preferably 14 or more; and that's going to be hard to judge if the inlet is restricted by the original pump.
I suggest you make arrangements to TOW the vehicle to the new home, or drop the tank RIGHT NOW and replace the in-tank pump.

A blue Holley may work. They push better than pull so try to keep it low so ir gravity feeds. They are 9 psi my tbi truck ran at 9.
Good luck w//your move.
