emission
i don't kno if this is the right spot for this an I kno that there is a lot of posts out there but im not findin what im lookin for so here it goes...I have a 1991 Camaro 305 tbi an I want to remove the emissions crap under the hood...so ive seen smog pump removal but what in all does that consist of removing? an the A.I.R system? whats that consist of...I want to clean up under the hood
Re: emission
what i just got done doing with mine was very simple. I removed the a.i.r. tubes off the exhaust manifolds, and used some fine thread bolts that were laying around the shop to plug the holes in the manifolds. Then i pulled the smog pump off and gutted it out, and reinstalled it. The power increases are not huge, but it sure cleans up the engine bay. I also removed the egr and used some scrap to make a block off plate, as well as pluging off the vaccum ports. Then i removed all my half *** a/c that was already butchered from the previous owner, just bought a ac delete pulley. I still need to get the factory heat only unit for the firewall, but all in all its much cleaner!

Re: emission
What about the wires that go to the air system ... Two plugs on box where air pump routes into. Can you just cut them.
Re: emission
If you don't know what the emissions equipment does, and you don't know how it works, why do you think you'll gain anything by scalping it off the engine?
Nothing says "butchered" like a hacked-off, half-assed emission-ectomy.
