92 TBI Very High Idle
I have an 92 Camaro 5.0 TBI and it gives me trouble starting up.
I have to crank it a few times in order for it to start JUST to die back down and cut off. When i give it gas , it eventually idles up and down (Surging), the service engine light comes on, then it idles fine
Driving it then stopping at a light, It idles high as if the throttle is stuck, i pump the gas kinda hard then it idles down...
I parked it for a week (Being scared to mess up anything), Then went to go move it, I went though the above procedures then out of no where it idles so high (Cant say what RPM, Gauge is stuck) but it sounds like the engine is running away. HELP PLEASE!

The throttle body gasket might be bad, it's a cheap fix. Pull it off & look for a split at the narrowest part of the gasket. Take the time to clean up the throttle body while you have it off, those vacuum ports can get plugged up.

Re: 92 TBI Very High Idle
I completely took the TBI off, saw a crack in the gasket, replaced it, cleaned the TBI, the vacuum port for the PCV valve was very dirty nearly clogged. I cleaned it out good... I put everything back and the car runs better but It still cuts off during cold start and loses power sometimes.
I still have to crank it a few times in order for it to start, and it idles up and down, I start driving it (as it hesitates) but a good 5 minutes of driving it drives fine but loses power a little when it feels like it . The check engine light still coming on. I would love to get a cpu diagnosis but as a college student, I cant afford 89$ just for that. Do you think maybe its a problem in the EGR system?
By the way, the whole "engine running away" it was actually a stuck gas pedal, it kept getting stuck on the under dash panel cover
