Swapped in a large cap HEI distributor, should the timing bypass wire be hooked up?
SubscribeSo I swapped in a large cap HEI distributor on the TBI engine using this diagram https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/at...ion-wiring.jpg
Found on this thread https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/tb...p-hei-tbi.html (Large cap HEI for TBI engine)
So it worked and I drove it a few miles and got the timing where I wanted it. Then I shut it off and it wouldn't fire again. (who knows what really caused this, but..)
I don't remember if I had the bypass wire hooked up or not. Then I got it in my head that somehow I burned out the stock ICM by hooking up the bypass wire.. So I bought a new one and am now scared to hook up the bypass wire. I have some kind of little problem going on, MAP sensor or fuel filter. But I have been wondering about the bypass wire. Can I hook it up without hurting the ICM?
