Vortec TBI EBL need advice

Long time reader but this is my first post. I helped my little brother build and install a vortec 350 to replace the 305 in his 89 chevy truck, reg cab, 700r4 with 3.42 gears. Specs are...

350 .30 over with 4 valve relief flat tops
Vortec heads 2.02/1.60 with port work done to the exhaust
Comp xfi 260 roller cam 210/218 @ .50 with 113 lobe separation
Rpm intake
46mm throttle body, 5.7 injectors with adjustable regulator running 20psi at the moment...

We installed ebl on the truck with a wideband o2 sensor and did some ve learns...currently we do not have the factory o2 installed but plan to install later on. Basically we disabled the egr, disabled closed loop and have done 6 or 7 ve learns and the truck runs alright but I feel it's lacking in power...the ebl is new to me and very confusing. Basically I need advice on where to tune next as I really have no clue what to do next. The truck is his dd and runs well enough but we'd like to extract every bit of power we can...thanks for your time and any input, Justin.

Re: Vortec TBI EBL need advice

Did you start with the Vortec BIN, or at least copy the Main & Extended SA tables from it into the BIN you started with? If you started with an L05 BIN a Vortec engine will be very lazy, not enough spark advance.

RBob.

Re: Vortec TBI EBL need advice

Yes sir we are using the vortec bin. Whenever I timed it initially I did not have a light so I set it by ear, it ran pretty good and felt peppy but still I feel it had more in it. The next day I used a timing light with the advance wire disconnected and set it at 6 degrees...i had to retard it quite a bit. Since backing the timing down it's lost power so I feel it would benefit from more aggressive timing but I'm not understanding the ebl yet...I had a carbureted vortec engine in an s10 blazer and got the best track times with 32 degrees total advance, with this truck we are getting around 24. I want to be able to tune this truck for max power and mileage but it's a lot to take in. Is there anybody around the Dallas/Ft worth area that could school me on the ebl sometime? Just need pointed in the right direction. Does anyone have a spark advance table that would work well with our setup? Thanks for the reply Rbob.
