91 Camaro knock ?
Hello everybody. I hope I'm posting this in the right place . Still kinda new here . Anywho recently my 91 Camaro rs 305 tbi has developed a knock . I'll post a link to a video of it . Im pretty mechanically inclined . But with the expertise of the community maybe some one could point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance .

Re: 91 Camaro knock ?
I'm no expert on this but maybe I can give you some ideas to check.
I've never experience engine knocking (besides pinging from bad gas or too high of timing), but I would think that if that noise was engine knocking (like from a rod), it would be more consistent. I could be wrong here though because I don't know exactly all the things that could be causing the knocking if it is internal of the engine.
I assume the noise fluctuates with RPMs?
One thing I would do if that were my car would be to take off the serpentine belt and run the car (FOR A VARY SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME).
That way, with the belt off and engine running, you'll be able to tell much easier if the noise is engine related or if it may be possibly coming from one of the accessories.
If the noise still occurs with the belt off, then I would put the belt back on and take the valve covers off and inspect the rockers/pushrods. Then run the engine with the covers off for a little bit to see if they are acting weird (and expect some oil to get over the engine bay.) If the top end looks okay and the noise is still evident, it may be possibly crankshaft/rod knock which I would think would warrant replacing the engine.
Good luck hopefully someone who knows better here can point you in a better direction!

Re: 91 Camaro knock ?
It's a long shot but I'd take the valve covers off with the engine off and see if any of your rocker arms seem loose. If they are you'll need to adjust them. If not I'd then check the oil or do a change and check the drained oil for metalic flakes or dust and possible discoloration. Sounds like an engine knock to me but not sure if it's rod related from your video.
