won't crank after spark plugs and valve seals

Ok, once again any help would be great. Basically I noticed oil on spark plugs so I changed spark plugs and valve seals. now engine turns over but wont crank. I did not move distributor and Ive verified plug locations.

"Turning over" IS cranking.

Do you mean that it cranks but won't start? Do you have proper compression when performing a cranking compression test? Do you have spark and fuel spray?

First Guess: Incorrect lifter preload adjustment.

right, it won't start. I think you right about it being a preload adjustment issue. now I just need to determine which is intake and which is exhaust.

The intake side lines up with your intake ports and your exhaust side lines up with the ports on your exhaust manifolds/headers. That's the easy way to tell.
