Fuel regulator problems

I have tried 2 different GM regulators and cannot turn the pressure down below 12 psi on either one. Has anyone else had this problem and if so what did you do to fix it.

I am going to install a spring that I have shortened in the morning and see if that helps. If it would not keep up the pressure I would think fuel pump but it just will not turn down.

Sounds like you just have a stiff spring. My 89 L05 Caprice would sit at 12-psi with the stock regulator.

That's exactly where the unit came from. A 89 LO5

I'm going to try the cut down spring in the AM.

I'd try for a different spring before you cut that one down. Head to a salvage yard and get one from another TBI vehcile and compare the two. I'd only cut that spring as a last resort.

I have an extra and they look the same. They both are painted yellow.
