engine temp/fan temp

Ok, first, I am damn sure I am running hot. I will get up to 220 easy in mild weather. Often to about 245
My question is two-fold.
First: Isn't a fan supposed to kick in @ 195 or something? mine dont come on till 240-250*
Second: Any other reasons I could be running hot
- 190* temostat
- rebuilt radiator with about 1000 miles on it
- New ECM, original PROM
- new CTS, but I think the plug/wiring harness need replaced as I will sometimes get a SES light.
- A/C (never use it)
- car over heated pretty good right before I bought it

I believe this could be a root of most of my engine related problems. I bet its real obvious, but I dont see it. thanx fer any help!

Go to the tech section. Willie has written an article about this.

I installed a painless wiring switch that cuts off at 180 and on at 195 and it works great. I also have a toggle switch that can manually cut it on when needed. They both work great.

Yes, I was more asking about hte temp that it SHOULD come on, when I get time, I do plan on copnstructing a switch for the fan, though...
