anyone else had this problem with their open element?

mine sits alittle crooked...its a k&n 14'' by 3'' element drop base and it sits crooked because it pushes again the throttle cable...isnt even down far enough to hit the coil so thats good tho...i was just wondering since i just installed it and i did notice a difference....it seems to help also made the car sound alot better and run alittle smoother...getting hooker headers and a trans-go shift kit for xmas so im sure thatll make a difference to

I think its a common problem. If i were you i would take it back and find one that fit better, or if you have room under the hood you could make a thin spacer out of solid cardboard or something to lift it up a bit. My guess is that it only needs to come up about a 1/4 inch or so right?

its just pushing on the cable alittle...doesnt seem to be affecting anything cept the cleaner is a tad bit crooked...i cant really take it back since i ordered it from summit,.

I too use the same type of filter but, I used the stock lower base and as far as the upper lid is concerned I used a after market lid which is exactly the same size as the filter!!! so I dont have to worry about connecting the crankcase ventilation and dont have to worry about relocating the other two sensors!!!

i riged up a clamp on k&n breather to fit inside the tube that i cut down...i just taped the sensor other by the MAP sensor and plugged the vac hose off...not throwing codes or anything and its running real good...about to tackle the shift kit and headers...im very afraid
