89 RS TBI

My camaro has a 358 (I donto know anything about what internal are in it) in it with a 700r4 behind it, I have messed and messed with this TBI System for a couple weeks now. I just replaced the fuel pump and filter, dizzy cap, button, wires, and plugs (gaped to .045). It started off as me replacing the transmission, but family matters came up and i had to leave the car be, it sat about a month, when I went to start the car, I didn't hear the fuel pump kick on, so I dropped the tank, cleaned out the old gas, and replaced the pump (its getting 13 PSI). We blew all the old gas out of the lines and then we bled the lines. I went ahead and pretty much a tune up on it, but it still wouldn't crank up. I replaced the ignition control module thinking it might be it and it wasn't and now I am stumped. In order for me to get the car to start, I have to spray some gas or starting fluid into the intake. I can go out there one day, spray some starting fluid into the intake and it'll fire right up and fuel will come out of the injectors, it'll run a few seconds then die. I can go out there another day and no matter how much gas I pour into the intake, it won't fire up to save my life. When I done the timing I undone the connector in the passenger side corner like I was told then set it to TDC, connected all the plugs in the proper order (18436572) undone the negative battery cable and reconnected the plug and it didn't start, poured gas into the intake and it ran maybe 30 seconds and died. Can someone PLEASE give me the run down, of what I need to do. I just want my car back on the road.

Re: 89 RS TBI

Can you keep the engine running by holding the gas pedal down a little?

Re: 89 RS TBI

Do you have consistent spark?

Defective pickup coil = inconsistent or no spark, inconsistent or no fuel pressure.
