improving horsepower in my 305 TBI

I was wondering what cheap and easy things I could do to my 1992 camaro rs tbi. i was thinking about taking off the smog and air pump and emissions to gain horsepower i mean I wanted to just gut the hole thing out and take off all that wasn't necessary and to stop weighing me down but then I thought of the old computer and I have a feeling that it will mess it up. I'm about to say the heck with this newer stuff and get an older one. so if anyone can help please tell me what I to do and what not to do on improving my horsepower I'd be very happy.

May want to do a search on this topic. But the one thing you can do relatively cheap is go with an open air element.

you can remove the smog pump, and all the emmissions without throwing a code...trust me on this one ive done it...there is even a black box with electrical connections you take them off and still no code. also do the ultimate TBI mods and get an open element...you get much better throttle response and add a couple ponies. then do exhaust (headers, high flow or no cat to high flow muffler) those are the first things i would do with your car

Removale of the EGR system WILL through a code. Just remove the smog pump, air tubes etc. Might want to clamp off the one going to the cat. Definatly do some of the cheapest mods like the open element for $15!

Not positive but i heared if you remove the AIR that the cat will clog so you have to gut that to. But hey theres a bit mor horsepower.

all the air pump does is heat the cat up alittle faster i dont think it affects it much. soon as i get the money to get a y pipe made im going to drive my car down with open headers and have the y pipe made and not run a cat

Hey man, I made a site just for people like u that are just getting started on their engines. So far everyone that has gone there, liked it and finds it very useful. My ignition page is down for right now but if u have any questions u can post here or e-mail me. The page has descriptions of mods, what they do, part numbers, install instructions, do's and dont's, pictures and if they were worth it or not. Its the second site in my signature, good luck and have fun.
