CFI inlet manifold
CFI inlet manifold
I have the chance to buy an 88 305 motor which had the TPI set up, my car is a 1982 indy 500 and i want to keep it stock
My question is will the CFI inlet fit the later heads, Please note i live in the UK and we don't have an endless supply of used parts for american motors here

The angles of the center intake mounting holes will be at a different angle. You can use a die grinder to wallow the intake out a little to get it to line up. Otherwise, should match up.

Re: CFI inlet manifold
Trouble is bolts under manifold lid are exposed to vacume and likely difficult to seal properly long term when they are not screwed down to a flat surface,One possibility I had thought of when I was thinking about trying #193 heads on a CFI was to drill out and tap the center holes for 1/4" pipe plugs, install the plugs, then locate holes and drill and tap the plugs for the 3/8-16 manifold bolts

I'm posting this to demonstrate that it may be an accepted practice to elongate the holes as this intake already comes that way. I wish they had a better picture of this Weiand 90748 showing the actual bevel on the spacer.
